GEDIT Academic Mentorship Program (AMP)
Service Description
The GEDIT Academic Mentorship Program (AMP) is a structured, student-centered academic support initiative designed to promote persistence, academic achievement, and college and career readiness among high school equivalence and postsecondary learners. The program provides individualized mentoring, academic coaching, and strategic skill development aligned with High School Equivalency preparation (GED), ACT/SAT readiness, Academic Literacy Program, Academic Writing and Composition Program, Quantitative Reasoning Program, workforce certification pathways, and transition-to-college goals. Grounded in research-based practices in adult education and academic advising, the program integrates goal-setting frameworks, progress monitoring, accountability systems, and targeted intervention strategies to address cognitive, academic, and motivational barriers to success. Mentors provide one-on-one and small-group sessions focused on strengthening core competencies in reading comprehension, analytical writing, mathematical reasoning, critical thinking, and executive functioning skills. Note: Mentorship sessions are available both in-person and online, and scheduling mentoring is available through our online calendar. These sessions are designed to cater to a diverse range of participants, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to benefit from expert guidance and support. In-person mentorship sessions offer a unique chance to engage directly with mentors, fostering a more personal and interactive learning environment. Participants can take advantage of face-to-face discussions, hands-on activities, and networking opportunities that can significantly enhance their experience. On the other hand, online mentorship sessions provide flexibility and accessibility for those who may not be able to travel and prefer the convenience of remote learning. Through virtual platforms, participants can connect with mentors from the comfort of their own homes or workplaces, allowing for a broader reach and the chance to engage with experts who may be located in different regions. This format also accommodates various schedules, making it easier for individuals to find a time that works for them.
